Description
- The Trail Dulcimer is an exceptional instrument, renowned for its simplicity and versatility. Its three-string configuration, comprising a wound string at the top, a plain centre string, and a plain string at the bottom, offers a wide range of tunings. However, we recommend the G3 D4 G4 tuning for ease of play.
- The instrument’s distinctive features include a rosewood fingerboard with a 6 1/2 fret, a spruce soundboard, and a lacewood body and neck. The intricate laser-cut sound hole enhances the instrument’s resonance and projection.
- The Trail Dulcimer’s body design allows for a guitar-like playing style, enabling players to hold it comfortably in their lap. This unique feature contributes to the instrument’s portability and accessibility.
- The spruce soundboard, paired with the carved lacewood body, delivers a substantial volume for such a compact instrument. The diatonic scale arrangement of the frets, reminiscent of an Appalachian Mountain dulcimer, facilitates easy playing. Notably, the inclusion of the infamous “6 1/2” fret below the octave position enables the instrument to play in Ionian mode, providing a versatile range of musical possibilities.
