The Tupan Drum, a large two-headed drum played with mallets, is known by various names across different regions, including Daouli, Davul, Dawul, and Tabl Baladi.

The drum is suspended around the player’s neck, positioned sideways. The left and right heads are struck with two distinct sticks, with the dominant hand holding the thicker stick and the other hand holding the lighter stick.

Tupan drums are commonly employed in folk music.

This Mid-East Tupan measures 20 inches in diameter (excluding the bolts) and 15 inches in width (from head-to-head). It is bolt-tuned and includes:

  • Shoulder strap
  • Tuning tool
  • Beaters
