The Grace model, a recent addition to our MID-EAST Mountain Dulcimer line, boasts an array of exceptional features. Its vaulted fret board, crafted from lightweight walnut wood, enhances soundboard vibration, resulting in a rich and resonant tone. The hourglass shape of the body, neck, nut, bridge, and fret board further contributes to its exceptional sound quality.

The spruce soundboard, adorned with a charming walnut wood skirt design on both ends, complements the instrument’s warm and mellow sound. Five mechanical geared right-angle tuners, with a 14:1 ratio, ensure precise tuning and ease of use. The model features five strings, including two melody strings, two middle strings, and a single bass drone string.

The Grace model’s traditional DAD tuning system provides a convenient and accessible method for beginners. Its unique features make it a standout instrument in the dulcimer family, offering an unparalleled playing experience.

Traditionally, mountain dulcimers were constructed with three, equally spaced strings: a melody string, a middle string, and a bass string. Later developments resulted in the creation of a four-string dulcimer by altering the string spacing and doubling the melody string. This modification enhanced the volume of the melody line. Contemporary dulcimers, including the one in question, feature additional notches on the nut, enabling the customization of string patterns. The interior doubled melody string can be completely removed to restore the traditional three-string configuration. Alternatively, the interior melody string and the middle string can be shifted over one notch to create an equal spacing between all four strings.
