Our four courses, the eight-string Greek Bouzouki, is a captivating instrument with a storied past. The fingering pattern is similar to the higher four strings of a guitar and the fingering pattern of a ukulele. However, the tuning differs, with the recommended tuning being Cc Ff aa dd.
The MID-EAST Bouzouki features a European spruce soundboard, a ROSEWOOD fingerboard, and a MAHOGANY neck. The soundboard, fingerboard, and headstock are intricately decorated with custom LACEWOOD inlays. The scale length is 26.25 inches (667 millimetres), and a truss rod is installed in the neck for proper intonation adjustment.
The bouzouki has a history dating back to Byzantine times. In Greece, it was originally known as a pandura. Later, it gained the name tambouras and underwent significant evolution around the 19th century, eventually transforming into the contemporary bouzouki. Notably, the Irish bouzouki, which emerged in the 1960s, gained prominence in traditional Celtic music. Distinguishing itself from its Greek counterpart, the Irish bouzouki bears a resemblance to a mandolin and is tuned differently.
