Description
The Satinwood Bombard is a 12.25-inch-long instrument with a 3-inch diameter bell. It is accompanied by a cane reed.
The bombard is a small, double-reed instrument similar to a soprano shawm in range, albeit shorter in length. It is tuned to the key of A and is slightly shorter than a soprano recorder in the key of C. Bombards continue to be utilized in certain Celtic musical traditions. Despite their diminutive size, they possess a remarkable ability to produce a loud sound. Their tone is characterized by its high and penetrating quality.
