The lute-guitar is an aesthetically pleasing and lightweight instrument of comparable size and scale to a standard classical guitar, yet with a body resembling a lute. In accordance with its lute-inspired character, the bowl-shaped body is achieved through the edge-gluing of staves of uniformly thin hardwoods bent to a specific shape, devoid of substantial internal bracing to maintain its form. The bowl is crafted from walnut wood.
European spruce is utilized for the soundboard. Notably, the soundboard bracing pattern closely follows the bracing technique employed in renowned Kohno classical guitars.
The maple wood neck bears a shape similar to a classical guitar, with a 51mm (2-inch) wide nut crafted from bone. The peg box’s top features a carved depiction of a woman’s head. When equipped with standard nylon classical guitar strings, the instrument is tuned in the same manner as a guitar, tuned to E4, B3, G3, D3, A2, and E2. However, if intended for lute music, the third string can be tuned a half-step down to F# to facilitate lute fingering. The guitar is complemented by smooth-operating gold tuners adorned with black ebonized tuning key buttons.
