Design and Construction:
The Woodland’s Harp by MID-EAST boasts a sleek and refined appearance, embodying the functionality of its Chelby lever harp design. Distinguished from standard MID-EAST harp levers, the Chelby levers exhibit mechanical superiority. Their design allows for side engagement of the string, minimizing the risk of string lifting from the bridge pin. Professional harpists appreciate the red and blue-coloured caps, facilitating easy identification of the C- and F-string levers. The lever is securely attached to its base via a hex bolt, with a synthetic washer positioned between the lever and base, ensuring smooth and controlled lifting action. The base of each lever is secured to the harp arm by two screws, allowing for minor adjustments. The bridge pins for the Chelby levers have also been enhanced, enabling simple adjustment in or out using a hex wrench.
Strings and Soundboard:
The harp is equipped with 26 DuPont hard nylon strings, spanning from F3 to C7. It features 26 sharpening levers and an engraved and inlaid ROSEWOOD frame. The soundboard is crafted from solid spruce, delivering exceptional sound and strength.
Dimensions and Appearance:
Standing on four legs, the harp reaches approximately 35.5 inches in height. Its footprint measures approximately 18 x 11 inches, with a pillar arm length of 32 inches and a tuning arm length of approximately 23.5 inches.
The harp’s design incorporates a skilfully hand-carved woodland theme, featuring stylized branches and leaves entwined on the side panels. A mythical flying squirrel, perched over a tree, adorns the pillar arm, while flowers carpet the forest floor depicted on the tuning arm.
